Plymouth Islamic Education Trust (PIETY) The PIETY Centre was the first model centre which Green and Chambers conceived. The Centre was brought on as a client in October 2007. The whole model had to be drawn up and then the branding and identity of this model centre was created. In the initial phase £300,000 had to be raised by the end of January to complete the purchase of an identified building; a former headquarters of the local Labour party. These funds were raised; mainly through the community and £150,000 through qard-ul-hasanah. The remaining funding was matched by a major donor. After this GCC consulted the Piety Centre on developing relations with the local community. GCC had to visit Plymouth and reinforce the vision of the centre and engage with the local community. Before the beginning of Ramadan, a final campaign was launched to pay back the remaining qard-ul-hasanah. This was almost complete by the end of Ramadan.
